SWINDON Town fans have a nervous three-day wait to find out which key player will be missing from Richie Wellens’ team for a substantial period of time.

The Town boss this afternoon revealed his squad has been rocked by an injury picked up during this morning’s training session in Melksham – Calne’s Beversbrook Sports Facility is current unavailable due to flooding.

Such is the extent of the mystery key player’s injury, Wellens stated he will work on a couple of options moving forward – suggesting a new addition may be required when the upcoming January transfer window opens.

Ahead of Saturday’s visit of Oldham, Wellens was understandably keen to keep the identity of the injured player in-house.

Therefore, fans must now wait until 2pm on Saturday to find out who exactly will be out for an unknown period of time.

Wellens said: “We’ve picked up an injury today, for the first time in a while the starting XI will change.

“We’ll have to adapt. We’ll work on a couple of things and work on a decision going forward regarding who will come in.

“We didn’t want to pick this injury up, and it’s a blow to us because he was playing really well. It is what it is.”

Despite the above, Wellens did confirm Keshi Anderson and Lloyd Isgrove as players that will feature in Wellens’ 18 this weekend.
