It was a bad day for teams from the Trowbridge League in the Wilts Junior Cup on Saturday as seven of the nine teams playing were knocked out.

Calne Eagles travelled to the Hampshire border to play cup holders Redlynch and Woodfalls and were given something of a footballing lesson by their far superior opponents.

Redlynch dominated possession in the first-half and went in at the interval 3-0 up. Realising that they had nothing to lose, Eagles gave a much better account of themselves after the break and managed to match Redlynch for the first 25 minutes. However, they then conceded a penalty. Andy Windsor saved the first attempt only for the referee to order a retake for encroaching from which Redlynch scored.

Calne then began to run out of steam and Redlynch's quality told as they scored three more fine goals. Eagles did get a consolation, when Shaun Jefferies was fouled in the box and Jamie Davies tucked away the resulting penalty.

Bradford United lost 5-3 at home to Swindon Irons after extra-time.

The scores were tied 3-3 after 90 minutes.

Oaksey overcame Seend United with a disputed penalty in the last five minutes to win 3-2.

The first half finished 2-2, with Seend's goals coming from Chris Styles and Lee Jackson.

Semington Magpies' first ever game in the Wilts Junior Cup was a bit of a goal feast, with Stratton Juniors scoring six for a 6-3 win.

Magpies were one down after ten seconds and it was an uphill struggle from there. Nigel Hall got Magpies back in the game with a free kick, but Stratton Juniors took the lead again just before half-time.

In the second half Magpies found themselves 5-1 behind before Nigel Hall scored his second goal of the game and Stuart Barber pulled it back to 5-3.

Semington then hit the post and Dan Rimmer missed from close range but in the end it wasn't to be and Stratton scored their sixth goal as Magpies were out of the cup at their first attempt.

Salisbury side Chalke Valley beat Steeple Ashton 4-2, but only after extra-time and Swindon APS Swindon APS has a walkover against FC Northbridge The Trowbridge League was guaranteed one team into the next round as The Deverills played host to Freshford United.

Sean Holton scored first for The Deverills, but Mark Birleson equalised for two minutes later. Phil Little put the visitors in front after 20 minutes and then made it 3-1 with ten minutes of the first half remaining.

The second half saw The Deverills score the only goal through Nick Shuttlewood to make the final score 3-2 to Freshford.

The Lamb Inn played host to Lower Stratton and were given a lesson in how to play football as the visitors won 7-1.

Great Western provided the Trowbridge League's only other winners as they beat AFC Stratton Nalgo 3-2, with goals from Russell Gibbons (2) and Shane Godsell.
