A WOMAN was rushed to hospital from a Travelodge last night after being stabbed in the legs.

She was believed to have been injured in a house in Peterlee, County Durham before travelling to the Middlesbrough hotel, on Newport Road, and checking in.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The Northern Echo understands that staff at the Travelodge raised concerns about the woman.

A spokeswoman for the North-East Ambulance Service said they were called out to the hotel just before 10.30pm last night. An ambulance and hazardous area response team were sent out and they said an injured person was taken to hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a woman was stabbed.

"The incident is believed to have happened at a house in Peterlee last night, December 17. The victim’s injuries are not thought to be serious.

"Officers would like to reassure people that the victim and the suspect are known to each other."
