SOUTH WEST Wiltshire MP Dr Andrew Murrison is to join the Leigh Park Community Centre to help celebrate village halls week later this month.
Dr Murrison will join the local community using the centre in Leigh Park Way, Westbury, for an open day event on Saturday, January 25, from 10am to 2pm. Admission is free.
The centre's regular hirers will showcase a range of activities provided at the centre during Village Halls Week, a high-profile campaign supported by Defra.
A spokesman for the centre said: "Village halls and centres are run by dedicated volunteers that work tirelessly to keep them going.
"They are the heart of rural communities, they bring people together; they provide a meeting space essential for tackling loneliness and they often provide vital services that rural communities would otherwise lose."
