CHIPPENHAM’S only club for pensioners has re-opened after leaving its old base of 30 years.
Formerly River House Friendship Centre, Chippenham Day Centre has established its new home at King Alfred Hall at St Andrew’s Church.
The group were no longer able to use River House so had to search long and hard for another place.
They meet every Thursday for games and quizzes as well as performances from musicians and dancers.
Organiser Diane Steele said the work the club does is “absolutely essential”.
The 58-year-old continued: “It’s vital older people are kept out of isolation.
“A lot of older people stay in home all week and don’t see a soul.
“We try to get them out of their house and doing things.
"It took a while to find the right space because it had to be just right.
"A lot of credit has to go to our volunteers as well who help out every week just because they love doing it."
