NEW photos show soldiers rescuing a demolished traffic light from the front of their lorries after two vehicles ploughed into a motorway junction roundabout today.
The army trucks came straight off the road and crashed at Junction 17 of the M4, taking a traffic light with them.
The average cost of a single traffic light is understood to be in the region of £7,500-£10,000.
The lorries had clearly come off of the M4 from the Swindon direction before driving straight into the centre circle.
A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: "We are informed that traffic is moving well on the roundabout. Our contractor, Ringway have been tasked to remove any damage and debris. Highways England are dealing with damage to the traffic lights."
Wiltshire Police said: "We were called just after 12.30pm today to a report of a collision involving army vehicles near the roundabout at junction 17 of the M4. There were no injuries. Vehicles were off the carriageway and recovery was arranged."
It is understood that access to and from the motorway was not restricted during this time.
