Trowbridge Players are offering a hilarious new take on Aladdin with their version of the classic pantomime that opens this week at the Arc Theatre

Written by Angelia Giddings, the show promises to be fun for the whole family.

The group's annual panto is a highlight in the Trowbridge theatre's schedule.

Angela said; “Aladdin is one of my favourite pantomimes.

"It's magical, exotic and so colourful with outstanding costumes and it's been fun, not only in writing, but also arranging the ingredients the audience expects from this popular family show.”

The story line follows the wicked Abanazer who is seeking the magic lamp that contains the all-powerful genie, so that he can rule the world - and he is just steps away from succeeding.

It appears all hope is lost. But help is at hand. A family posse of wannabe heroes are here to foil Abanazer's evil scheme.

The innocent local lad, Aladdin, his fearsome mother, washerwoman Widow Twankey and the cheeky Wishee Washee are ready to intervene and save the day!

Throw in a magic carpet, a mystical Spirit of the Ring, the Emperor of China, a beautiful princess and a couple of inept policemen and you have all the ingredients for a traditional colourful panto line up.

The show runs tonight, Saturday and Sunday and then again on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week. Matinee performances are scheduled for all the weekend performances.

Tickets are available at £10or £8 for concessions and can be bought by calling 0333 6661466 or visiting www.ticktsource.co.uk/ arctheatre

The next production in the group's diary is the thriller Night Must Fall, due to hit the stage in April.
