THE owners of a bar in Ashley Cross have agreed to install a noise limiter after a review of its licence was requested by BCP Council environmental health officers.

Several complaints were made about Bournemouth Road-based Camden last year prompting the request to amend its licence to require new restrictions.

The review was considered at a meeting of a council licensing sub-committee on Tuesday at which councillors were told issues had arose during “a period of change” for its management.

Solicitor Sandra Graham said the bar’s owners has “relied too heavily” on a temporary team they had brought in.

“There were some mishaps in the operation of the company,” she said. “One partner left in April and his departure coincided with another being on maternity leave.

“During this time we perhaps relied too heavily on the management which was there on a temporary basis.”

She said several measures had been implemented to try and reduce noise issues, including moving a speaker, and that they had also agreed to install the noise limiter.

This had been recommended by council environmental health officer Paul Barker when he requested the review of its licence.

It will restrict the level of amplified music to one set by the council.

The sub-committee agreed to amend the bar’s existing licence to enforce its installation.
