A passenger who didn't want to be named was travelling on the bus to work when it all happened.

He said: "I heard a loud noise but only saw the cracked window 10 minutes later when the driver stopped and investigated it.

"He suspected it being shot at and mentioned it has happened twice previously."

The passenger was travelling to his work in Shinfield when the incident happened at 7.30am in Arborfield.

A Reading Buses spokesman said: “We can confirm that one of our leopard buses had a window damaged this morning.

"We have reported the matter to the police and are helping with their enquiries, including checking CCTV footage from the external cameras on the bus to try and identify what happened and who is responsible.

"Thankfully, no one was hurt in this incident and such occurrences are very rare.

"We are hopeful that the use of our CCTV system will be useful in catching the perpetrators as we have successfully helped the police identify vandals this way in the past”
