CASES heard by magistrates in Swindon, Basingstoke and Salisbury include:

BRADFORD ON AVON: Jim Sawtell, 58, of Church Street, has been fined £40 after admitting being drunk and disorderly by the Kennet & Avon canal.

TIDWORTH: Robert Sisterson, 23, of Karachi Close in Tidworth was found guilty of racially-aggravated assault and fined £875. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation to his victim.

MELKSHAM: Petras Cesokas, 31, of Bath Road, has been ordered to do 120 hours of community service after pleading guilty to having a knife in a public place.

DEVIZES: John Stiles, 18, of Victoria Road, has been ordered to pay compensation of £1,934 after pleading guilty to damaging a bedside cabinet, fridge freezer, fire door and another door at The Foyer.

MELKSHAM: Joe Martin, 21, of Sweetbriar Road has been remanded on bail and ordered to stay away from a woman he is charged with assaulting.

DEVIZES: Andrew Noyes, 25, of Chandlers Close, All Cannings, has been sent for trial accused of grievous bodily harm in a racially-motivated attack.

MALMESBURY: Jim Brougham of Devereux Mews has been fined £376 and had his licence endorsed with 10 points after admitting drink-driving.

CHIPPENHAM: Paul Christie, 47, of Woodlands Road, has been banned from driving for a year after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.

TROWBRIDGE: Steven Paulford, 36, of Summerleaze has been fined £220 and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 plus court costs of £85 for driving without a licence.

He was also given six points on his driving record. It was proved in his absence that he drove along Clarendon Road in a Vauxhall Corsa on September 9 last year without a valid licence.

CHISELDON: Colin Sutherland, 65, of Colyer Close in Hermitage, Thatcham, pleaded guilty to driving over the 30mph speed limit along New Road in Chiseldon.

He has been fined £80, given four points on his driving licence and must pay court costs of £30 along with another £30 to victim services.

BADBURY: Mitchell Brennan, 24, of Dunvant Road in Swindon was found guilty of driving a vehicle which involved a danger of injury to a person along the A419 in Badbury.

Magistrates heard he drove an Izusu two-axle rigid goods vehicle in bad condition.

The load was insecure, there was no tailboard, the local area headboard was damaged, the fuel tank was insecurely attached, the offside and nearside indicators were insecure and there was no lighting control switch.

Brennan was fined £440, given three points on his driving licence and must pay a victim surcharge of £44 in addition to court costs of £119.

TROWBRIDGE: Marie-Louise Cordey, 51, of Church Walk in Trowbridge must pay court costs of £1,800 for breaching an enforcement notice.

She must also pay £21 to victim services and has been discharged conditionally for 12 months after pleading not guilty but being found guilty of the breach.

FONTHILL BISHOP: Keith James Lockyer of Glenwater Close in Axmouth is guilty of driving a Mazda along the A303 in Fonthill Bishop over the 70mph speed limit.

He has been fined £437, given five points on his driving licence and must pay court costs of £85 plus £43 to victim services.

MELKSHAM: The case of Barry McLaughlin, 32, of Primmers Place in Westbury’s has been adjourned to February 3. It was proved in his absence that he drove without due care and attention.

SALISBURY: Dr Mohammed Chawdhery, 66, og Quavey Road in Salisbury is guilty of driving a Mercedes along Lyndhurst Road in Landford without due care and attention.

He has been fined £293 and given five points on his driving licence. He must pay £85 in costs plus £32 to victim services.

SALISBURY: Alberto Giurgiuveanu, 22, from London Road in Shrewton, has been fined £880, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £66 to victim services and disqualified from driving after driving a Peugeot along Silver Street without insurance or a test certificate.

It was proved in his absence.
