DEVIZES MP Danny Kruger has thanked emergency services and community minded people for doing their bit to help others during Storm Ciara.

He said: "I know that Storm Ciara has caused significant disruption across the area and I’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who has helped out in some way - whether that’s dragging a fallen tree off the road, ensuring an elderly neighbour is ok or helped in the community at this difficult time for us all."

He also warned that a fallen tree in Acton, London, on Sunday night which damaged overhead line electric equipment could continue to affect journeys today and urged people to check travel times at https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/

GWR is reporting this morning that there is disruption to trains between Swindon and Gloucester because of a tree on the track.

In Great Cheverell, near Devizes a large tree came down yesterday near the village pub and blocked the road.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue is urging people not to ring 999 if they spot a fallen tree unless it is likely to cause injury or damage to property. Instead they should contact Wiltshire Council.
