MAGISTRATES in Salisbury have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Trowbridge shopworker who stole £6,865 from her employer.

The warrant was authorised after Pauline Fortune, of Bramley Lane, Trowbridge, failed to attend court on February 5.

The 49-year-old was found guilty in her absence of stealing £6,865 belonging to McColl's in Castle Place, Trowbridge, between October 26 2018 and November 27 2018. Fortune had denied the charge.

Staff at McColls said Fortune had been employed at the convenience store as a shop assistant in November 2017.

She was later promoted to supervisor in September 2018.

When the store's area manager discovered the theft Fortune was suspended by the company, disciplined and then later sacked.
