A SUSPECTED drug dealer was caught – thanks to volunteer CCTV operators.

Royal Wootton Bassett police said the volunteers helped find several people involved what appeared to be a drug deal in the town on Friday evening.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

That led officers to his home in central Wootton Bassett.

On Facebook, police said: “A quantity of possible drugs, a large amount of money and a vehicle have been seized as part of our investigation.

“This is a great example of how well we are supported by volunteers within our community in order prevent crime and keep people safe.”

CCTV in Royal Wootton Bassett’s town centre is managed by the town council. The system of 21 colour cameras is managed by a team of more than 20 volunteers.
