RETURNING for the eighth year, My Science Fair returns to Wiltshire Music Centre this Sunday (March 8) from 10am-3pm as a part of British Science Week.

This free family event for all ages is led by a range of science communicators and musicians and is full of opportunities for families to get involved and have fun.

Want to learn about the science of music and sound? There are loads of great ways to learn and discover, from Chemical Cress’ Super Sonic Sound Show to the Dinky Amigos’ adventure exploring the DNA of hearing.

Young scientists can create wacky pianos out of fruit with scientists from the University of Bath, get hands on at our messy sound station and even contact other worlds by creating an alien transmitter with Rising Ape.

Across the Centre, there will be so many opportunities to get involved. Create and programme your own LEGO robots with the Ministry of Defence, test out exciting lasers and experience an incredible Virtual Reality headset.

There’s also plenty of music throughout the day including Rock the Tots and their brand-new Big Science Show – created especially for the day – and our spectacular finale where you can write the My Science Fair Symphony.

At the core of the event is the culmination of the My Science Fair Project Competition, and over 50 pupils from 17 primary schools across Wiltshire and Bath have been busy devising their own exciting experiments exploring music, sound and science. These projects will be exhibited across the Centre on the day and judged by an expert panel, featuring scientists from the University of Bath, University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, as well as representatives from AB Dynamics, Steve Vick International and teachers from St Laurence School.

With a programme of activities, and food and drink from local producers on site, this event has something for everyone and is not to be missed. You do not need to book before the event, just turn up on the door.
