CENTRAL CID detectives are investigating an assault in Trowbridge which left a young man with a broken jaw.

They are appealing to anyone who may have any information to come forward.

At 12.45pm on Monday March 9, an 18-year-old man was walking along Wyke Road when he was approached by a man on a bike cycling towards him and they almost collided on the pavement.

The man on the bike punched the victim in the face causing him a broken jaw which required surgery in hospital.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 20s, with dark hair and a fringe. He was wearing a black hooded coat and was cycling an old red mountain bike.

Det Con Rebecca Taylor said: “This was a violent assault which occurred after the victim and the suspect almost collided on the pavement.

"When the victim challenged the man, he was punched to the face and sustained a nasty injury to his jaw.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area, including any drivers with dash cam footage or residents who may have CCTV.”
