TWENTY keen members of Sustainable Warminster, the local environmental community group, have helped tidy up the town.

The group got together on Saturday March 14 in Warminster Avenue car park for the litter pick.

Organiser Clare Hancock said: “Despite the sad state of litter casually dropped all around our streets we enjoyed ourselves being outside and making the car parks and streets look nice and tidy.

"The areas litter picked included Station Road, The Avenue, Fairfield Road, Imber Road, The Close and central car parks near Library.

"What is saddening is the amount of litter left near schools and shoved into bushes all round. It was amazing how 20 big bags got filled up within an hour.”

Warminster Town Council loaned litter grabbers and high-viz jackets for the task, and provided re-cycled rubbish bags.
