1983: Trollope sacked

John Trollope is relieved of his manager’s position, after a fans demonstration two days previously. He accepts the position of Youth Team Coach, while Ken Beamish takes over as caretaker.

1987: Town beat Fulham thanks to Flowers and Quinn

With an upcoming suspension for goalkeeper Fraser Digby, the Town sign Tim Flowers on loan - Digby keeping a clean sheet on his last outing before his enforced lay off - Jimmy Quinn netting a superb brace to see off struggling Fulham.

2015: Ricketts brought in on short-term loan

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Sam Ricketts was signed by manager Mark Cooper on loan to help with the club’s promotion push.

The now Shrewsbury Town manager played a significant part in Swindon making the League One play-off final, scoring the equalising goal away at Sheffield United in the semi-final first leg as Swindon scored late through Nathan Byrne to win 2-1.
