LUCAS Romanek will take on some of the best drivers in the country as he lines up on the grid for the Ultimate Karting Championship in 2020.

The UKC Series is a new national karting series that will take place over the next seven months across seven different tracks around the UK.

The competition is set to be televised twice each month from April until October 2020 on FreeSports TV, and the first round is in Glan y Gors Park, North Wales on April 4 & 5.

The 16-year-old, from Swindon, said: “The last 3 years have been amazing, I have learnt so much, but with each year comes tougher competition.

“The fact that I am still winning races against race champions gives me real encouragement to keep going.

“The UKC series offers driver profiling, TV interviews and the opportunity to be viewed by a large television audience, I am really excited to see what is next for me.”

Lucas has only been competing in karting championships for three years but is already looking like a real star of the future.

2019 saw Lucas move up to Junior X30, competing with the best junior talent in the UK, finishing on the podium eight times, including four wins.

The 16-year-old secured the East Anglia Championship, became Hunts Rise Champion and won Shenington ‘most promising Junior’ and Kimbolton ‘Best Junior overall’ in a stellar year.

Lucas started the 2020 season as a X30 senior, racing against seasoned kart champions.

The first Shenington senior kart race in January gave him his first win of this year in spectacular style, achieving the lap record in the heats.

Lucas will now compete in the UKC Series and LGM series throughout the year.
