THE annual Wiltshire Armed Forces and Veterans Celebrations due to take place in Trowbridge have been cancelled for this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was scheduled to have taken place in Trowbridge town park over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28.
WAFVC chairman, Maryrose Mantle, said: “Following the Government announcement last night and the decision by Trowbridge Town Council to stop events in Trowbridge Park the Committee has regretfully taken the decision to cancel Wiltshire Armed Forces this year.
“We believe this will help to relieve the burden on NHS, service personnel and emergency services during this crucial time.
“The Committee thanks everyone for their support through the years but now we implore you to please take care of yourselves.”
She added: “We will individually contact any traders, living history and all relevant people.
“We urge all our traders, charities, re-enactors, contractors and volunteers to take extra care and follow the advice being given.”
