The Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police has asked members of the public to stay at home.

Chief Constable Kier Pritchard added that a number of officers have been spit at by members of the public claiming to have coronavirus

In a video posted to YouTube, he said: "Whilst the majority of the public have been hugely respectful in following the rules that have been set out, we have still needed to deal with some horrific incidents where officers have been spat at, deliberately coughed at, by people saying they are carrying coronavirus symptoms.

"That is absolutely horrific and will not be tolerated.

"On each occasion, we have been able to charge the individual and they have been taken to the nearest court."

In the video, he adds that Wiltshire Police have launched an online form where members of the public can help inform officers where people are not following the lockdown rules.
