A 31-year-old man has been charged with theft and assault following a number of incidents which took place in Bolton.
On Tuesday evening, police patrolling the Astley Bridge area arrested a man on suspicion of shoplifting and robbery.
After investigation and interview, officers charged John Haworth, 31, of Nevis Grove with six counts of theft and one count of assault.
A spokesperson for the police said: "A male has been charged following a number of thefts around Bolton north.
"John Haworth, 31-years-old, of Nevis Grove, Astley Bridge, has now been charged with six counts of theft and one count of assault.
"He has been bailed to appear at court at a later date."
