HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for a dad and DIY SOS volunteer who had all his tools stolen.

Dean Perry, 51, from Baydon Close in Trowbridge, is a self-employed landscape gardener but is now unable to do his job after burglar’s stole over £6,000 worth of equipment from his garage.

His daughter Mollie Perry, 21, set up a Go Fund Me page as a big thanks to her dad who is always willing to give up his time help others.

She said: “He does a lot for others and he definitely can’t afford to replace the equipment himself.

“He is struggling to get it all back from the insurance company so I wanted to help.

“He loves doing stuff and helping other people which is really sweet. When I was younger he would always help our street with their bike tyres and everyone would be saying oh dean can you help me with this? So he really likes to help others.

Dean has volunteered to help coach two rugby teams at the local rugby club, he has coached the Trowbridge Wanderers football team, and he been part of DIY SOS in Bristol lending his skills to the show.

“He won’t ask himself because he is too proud but he deserves it. He was saying to me I don’t want to ask people for money, it’s rude. But I told him it’s not rude, you have been burgled.

“It’ going well even though I know it’s a bit of a bad time to ask people for money.

“He has been blown away by people giving. I want to say thanks to my dad because he is an amazing dad and he is such a big part of the community.”

They have so far raised £785 towards a target of £3000 which is half of the estimated amount stolen.

Dad Dean Perry said: “I have lived here for six years and this has never happened. It is such a friendly street and everyone knows each other.

“The people who took the stuff knew exactly what they were doing it was planned and very quick. They cut two locks off.

“A neighbours door banging interrupted them otherwise it may have been more.

“I was fuming because it was my livelihood.

“It’s an accumulation of 18 years of equipment which I will never see back.

“The response has been overwhelming. People have been sending so many messages even if they can’t give I appreciate the message.

“There is a community spirit even with what is going on.” Go to: gofundme.com/f/help-my-dad-to-get-some-of-his-kit-back
