FATHER AND SON superhero team Steve and Travis Smart have taken to the streets of Trowbridge.

And their mission - to save people from feeling isolated by coronavirus - and to put a smile on their faces.

The daring duo have been out nearly every afternoon for the past two weeks dressed as the caped crusader and his trusty side kick Robin.

“I get home from work about 4pm most days, “ said fibre optic engineer Steve of Bond Street, Trowbridge.

“I have got to exercise and usually go to the gym, so I thought instead Travis and I might as well go for a bike ride.”

He said Travis already had the Robin outfit - so he ordered himself a Batman costume off the internet.

He has also kitted out his bike as a Batbike, and Travis pedals along on an attachment behind.

“I’ve set up a Facebook page, so people can let me know if they want us to cycle past and cheer them up.

“I have a bluetooth speak on the front of my bike playing out Batman theme tunes loudly.

“People also let us know if one of their kids has a birthday, so we also play Happy Birthday out for them.”

He says he reckons he has covered most of the estates of Trowbridge in the two weeks he and Travis have been out.

Steve’s partner Layla is quite happy staying in the Bond Street Bat cave, and has no intention of dressing up and joining the pair on their escapades.

“Oh no,” she said. “I’m quite happy here just washing the outfits!”
