PEOPLE in Devizes were delighted to see young supermarket worker Robbie Thorne congratulated on national TV for going the extra mile to keep shoppers happy while queuing at the town's Sainsburys.

Cameras from the One Show were in town to surprise Robbie in trolley action outside the store and the item was broadcast on Thursday evening.

One Show presenter Alex Jones told viewers Robbie from Melksham had been nominated by customers for a new segment in the show that gives people the chance to praise those who go the extra mile during coronavirus emergency.

After the show was screened many people took to social media to say how glad they were that Robbie had been chosen.

Briony Simpson said: "Great to see Robbie from Sainsburys being recognised on the One Show tonight.

"Well done to his nominators for letting the BBC know about him. I totally echo the comments made- Robbie you are a star and have certainly brightened up some miserable shopping trips."

Sue Smith said: "I was standing in the queue to do my shopping and wondered what it was all about. Robbie you have been a true shining star amidst the concerns and worries."
