COLONEL Tom Moore has praised a west Wiltshire teenager who is trying to raise £1 million to support the NHS during the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis.
Sixteen-year-old Miranda Meldrum, from Westwood, was one of four people the Colonel thanked for their efforts to support the NHS on his 100th birthday last week.
Miranda said: “It really is quite an honour. I was inspired to launch my own appeal following Colonel Tom’s 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday to raise funds for the NHS.”
Miranda has so far raised £3,651 for the NHS Charities Together by walking 100 laps on her treadmill at home.
At the age of 13, she suffered a catastrophic brain stem haemorrhage that left her unable to walk or talk.
She has since made an amazing recovery thanks to the NHS and her own determination.
