A SECTION of the main road through Holt is to be closed to traffic in June for re-surfacing.

Wiltshire Council has re-issued its traffic order to close part of the B3107 road to Melksham from the Tollgate roundabout to Station Road.

The council said: "This order, which previously came into operation on February 17, will now recommence on June 11.

“The closure will be required between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm until June 15.

“It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions.

“Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.”

The full order including diversion routes will be posted on the Holt Parish Council website.

A spokesman for Holt Parish Council said: “Parishioners who live along the recently re-surfaced part of the road report that the advantage of the very noticeable reduction in traffic noise from the new smooth tarmac far outweighs the disruption of having it laid.”
