A FORMER ‘snapper’ for the Gazette & Herald has been shortlisted for the first round of the Landscape Photographer of the Year Award.

One of Diane Vose’s images of Wiltshire was selected by the judges for the first round of this year’s competition.

Diane, 47, from Eddington, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be among the incredible landscape photographers shortlisted for the competition.

“I was rather overwhelmed to be included but so very happy to receive the news.

“All images will now be critiqued by a judging panel before the winners are announced on October 18.

In recent years, Miss Vose has specialised in documentary and reportage wedding photography.

She also offers public relations and business photography and has been shooting images of the landscape in Wiltshire and other areas of the UK on her travels.

Miss Vose said: “I was approached by a commissioning editor from Amberley Publishing in December 2018 about doing a book of photographs across Wiltshire.

“They publish a series of photography books across the United Kingdom showcasing each regional area.

“We are lucky in Wiltshire that we have such a vast array of stunning locations and tourist attractions to visit.

“I wanted to include all the famous sites such as Stonehenge, Avebury, Castle Combe and Lacock but also some of the lesser known places as well.

“I took images of lots of different Wiltshire towns and villages to give readers a real flavour of our lovely county, stunning countryside, and history.

“Wiltshire is such a beautiful and magical county to live in, full of ancient monuments, lush countryside, pretty villages, and towns.

“I also discovered that Salisbury Plain covers 300 square miles and is an impressive wildlife haven for 13 types of rare plants and 67 rare invertebrates.”

The book will have 128 different images showcased in chapters including ancient Wiltshire, the white horses, towns and villages, landscapes and woods and water across the area.

Wiltshire in Photographs will be published in November 2020 and available from her website at www.dianevose.com, local retail stores and online businesses.
