Nythe Primary School has explained it's decision not to reopen to all Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children today.
Some parents were concerned that their children were missing out on the return, but the Covingham school has said it is at capacity after already looking after key worker and vulnerable children.
Head teacher Clare El-yorby said: "In preparing for a wider opening of the school from June 1, we have followed the government’s guidance which sets out the order in which schools should prioritise the children who can safely return with the staffing and classrooms available.
"The guidance advises schools to prioritise vulnerable children and the children of keyworkers, followed by those in Nursery, then Reception, then Year 1 and finally those in Year 6.
"Due to high numbers of vulnerable and keyworker children, we are unable to safely accommodate others at this time.
"This has been communicated to all parents."
