A man accused of repeatedly assaulting his ex-partner in his friend’s car has been remanded in custody.
Reece Barnes, 25, of Monsal Avenue, Wolverhampton, pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by beating. He admitted charges of aggravated vehicle taking and failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis when asked to do so by the police.
The charges follow an incident on St Paul’s roundabout, Salisbury, on Thursday, May 28. Barnes is accused of confronting his ex-girlfriend as she drove her mum’s BMW, persuading her to get into a following car being driven by his friend and assaulting the woman. He denies the assault.
Magistrates remanded him in custody ahead of a bail hearing on June 4 as Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.
The Crown was represented by Keith Ballinger. Mark Glendenning appeared for Barnes.
