A HMP Thorn Cross inmate who fled the prison has been put back behind bars.
Edward Geaney was serving time in Thorn Cross prison over a hammer attack at a pub in Fearnhead.
But the 32-year-old, of no fixed address, escaped custody from the category D open jail in Appleton Thorn in February.
He admitted escaping lawful custody at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, May 21, and was handed an additional 10 months in prison.
Geaney – previously of Marshall Avenue in Dallam – was incarcerated in HMP Thorn Cross following an incident in the car park of the Farmers Arms on Insall Road in February 2018, during which a man and woman were injured after being assaulted with the weapon.
The attacker then drove away from the scene and collided with two people outside the pub – which was hosting a charity night at the time – as well as damaging other vehicles.
Also known under the alias Thomas Finney, Geaney was previously jailed for 15 months in 2014 after leading police on a high speed, 11-mile chase on the town’s roads.
