LIDL will be submitting a planning application for a new supermarket in Calne.

The company has launched ‘virtual’ public consultation to outline plans for the store along with a new employment park development off Oxford Road.

The multi-million pound investment will see Lidl commit to building a sustainable store with 1,410m² sales area, on the site off the roundabout at the junction of Oxford Road and Beversbrook Road.

The Lidl store is expected to create up to 40 new jobs, while the employment park could deliver a further 150 posts.

The employment park will consist of 10 commercial units and will benefit from an additional 150 separate parking spaces.

The public are invited to comment on the proposals via www.lidl-calne.co.uk and through a leaflet which is being delivered to properties in the town.

Residents with questions about the proposals can also call Lidl’s consultation team directly by Freephone number 0800 996 1612.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Glen Stidever, commented: “We are delighted to announce our plans to bring a Lidl store to Calne. We’re really excited by the prospect of serving local people with our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce, which shoppers across the country have come to love. We’re launching a ‘virtual’ public consultation for the proposed development in order to give everyone an opportunity to review, and we fully encourage the community to provide questions and comments via the website or the consultation leaflet.
