MEMBERS of Trowbridge Town Council have rejected a motion that would have required officers to conduct equality impact assessments on activities, events and projects.
An equality impact assessment is a process designed to ensure that a policy, project or scheme does not discriminate against any disadvantaged or vulnerable people.
Councillors voted 14-7 against the motion, which would have required them to consider the most vulnerable in society in everything they do.
Most councillors were concerned that it was not a legal requirement and would be expensive to do for everything.
