COMMERCIAL cleaners are doing a top-to-toe deep clean of a Grade 1 listed Anglican church in Trowbridge.

St James' Church is being cleaned in readiness for the return of regular prayer meetings.

Busy Bee cleaning staff Lauren Osbaldstone and Darren French started cleaning the high area of the church at the beginning of the week.

With the dust settled, they have since been cleaning the pews using Virucidal, a high concentrate disinfectant which kills a range of pathogenic micro- organisms.

Dr Rob Thomas, the Rector of St James, said: "After 12 weeks of lock down the Government has allowed us to open the church for private prayer.

"With the church locked up for all that time we needed to get a specialist company to come in and complete a top- to-bottom deep clean.

"We are opening the church for private prayer on Tuesday June 23 from 10am to 12 noon and would welcome anyone who wants to come to pray."

"We would be delighted if anyone wanted to come in just to take time to sit and reflect.”
