WESTBURY Town Council would like to hear residents' thoughts and ideas to help make local roads better to assist with the town’s recovery.

They want to improve social distancing for pedestrians and cyclists during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

This might be dealing with a dangerous pinch point, a new cycle route or an inspirational idea for traffic alleviation.

The council said: "We will share your ideas with Wiltshire Council and work with them to understand how we take these ideas forward."

Ideas so far include:

• Cycle priority along Station Road and Storridge Road to the West Wilts Trading Estate;

• A cycle priority lane to the Railway Station;

• Cycles only through High Street;

• Cycle access to the trading estate away from Station Road;

• Widening of some of the path along Mane Way;

• Consider the cut through from Eden Vale to Oldfield Park being open to cycles;

• Signs/marking of cycle paths at entrance points – Fell Road, Redland Lane;

• Having a wider verge to accommodate cyclists/pedestrians along the A350 towards Warminster and Trowbridge;

• A marked-off area on the road up to the White Horse for cyclists and pedestrians;

• Reduce the speed of traffic travelling from Newtown towards the White Horse/ marked area for cyclists and pedestrians.
