SHOPPERS in Swindon got a soaking yesterday as torrential rain fell on the town throughout the day.

The miserable conditions followed two days of similarly unseasonable weather, with storms on Tuesday afternoon leavingparts of Wroughton flooded and forcing bus services to be diverted around the High Street and Moormead stops.

Forecasters say today will bring more showers and highs of just 18C in Swindon - a far cry from last month, which saw 266 hours of sunshine and was England's driest May on record.

The weather is likely to be equally mixed over Father's Day weekend but a change isn't far away – with temperatures poised to hit 28C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
