FORTY years ago, Chippenham woman, Diana Pemberton wanted to become a journalist.

She asked her mother how to become one and was told she had no idea. Her school career adviser was not interested when she told him that she couldn’t afford to go to University. So, she chose a different career path and temporarily shelved her dream.

Today she has self-published her first novel and completed a course with the London school of Journalism in which she achieved a distinction.

The novel called ‘The Perspex Floor’ is a light-hearted look at life and death for one family. Diana says the idea came to her when she was suffering from grief at the loss of her mother two years ago. “I want to believe that there is better place that we all go to and that from there we can watch over our family until we are all reunited.

“There is a lot of humour and normal family life in the story as well as a perceived view of what it is like on the other side. The beautiful sunset we saw in Cornwall created the perfect cover picture.”

As well as a full-time job Diana is working on a couple of new novels and keeping her hand in at journalism when she gets the chance.

The Perspex Floor is available on Amazon as a download to Kindle, tablet or phone.
