A man wielding a screwdriver threatened one of two men sitting on a bench in Trowbridge town centre in an attempted robbery.

At about 10pm on Wednesday evening, the two men in their 20s were sat on a bench in Wicker Hill opposite the old Bowyers site.

Police said they were approached by three youths who were not known to them.

It is believed there was an altercation before one of the youths produced a screwdriver and threatened one of the men with it, before demanding he hand over his belongings.

The three youths made off empty-handed and walked off along Wicker Hill in the direction of the town centre.

Det Con James Gatherum said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt and nothing was stolen, however, we would like to identify these three individuals.

"We would urge any witnesses who may have information to get in touch, as well as anyone who may have been driving along Stallard Street or Wicker Hill who may have dash cam footage of the incident or the individuals involved.”
