POLICE in Chippenham, Calne and Corsham have urged publicans and restaurant owners to tell them what safety measures they are putting in place if they intend to re-open this weekend.

They want to know if owners and managers are able to ensure the safety of their staff and customers by adhering to social distancing and other safety precautions.

Charlotte Windle, a Police Community Support Officer in the Chippenham, Calne and Corsham Neighbourhood Team, wrote to owners and managers asking them to respond by email.

Her questions covered proposed opening hours for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday; whether the premises are only taking customers with reservation and/or walk-ins; if there is a queuing system being put in place; what they are doing to manage social distancing; what is the capacity of the premises; how are staff taking orders; whether there will be door staff; how they will deal with an excessive number of people turning up; whether they are restricting alcohol, and whether there is an alcohol limitation per person.
