HAIRDRESSERS and barbers across west Wiltshire are hoping to go back to work on Saturday but will face new restrictions on how they work.

They include Nigel Evans, of Nigel's Hair Design in Duke Street, who has been forced to install a new screen to socially distance his customers and will only allow three in at any one time.

He will also have to wear a visor and a face covering when he cuts hair.

Mr Evans, 52, from Trowbridge, said: "I can't wait to get back to work and see my customers again.

"I will be open from 7am on Saturday and am almost fully booked."

One customer looking forward to a visit to her hairdresser on Saturday is Cllr Pat Aves, the mayor of Melksham, who has booked a 9am appointment at Tops Hair & Beauty Salon in Melksham High Street.

She said: "I will be there first thing on Saturday morning. I can't wait to get it cut."
