THE children’s garden at Chilton Foliat Primary School has blossomed during lockdown.
The Sow and Grow club had planted potatoes, rhubarb, blueberries and raspberries before lockdown, with the children from the school’s Key Worker Club taking responsibility for daily weeding and watering the plants as well as dead heading the flowers.
“It is the first time that some of the children have experienced gardening of any sort, however they have really enjoyed seeing the plants grow and watching the butterflies and bees feed from the garden,” said head Katie Turner. “Everything has grown brilliantly and the children have been particularly amazed by all the colours; the garden really brightens up the greyest of days!
“I would like to thank our school community who have donated gardening equipment, plants and seeds. I’m sure it will benefit the school for many years to come.”
