TWO men have been arrested and a quantity of Class A drugs seized in Trowbridge following a police raid on a house.

Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Broad Street at 12.45pm yesterday following a tip off about drug dealing.

They searched the property and seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, as well as other items, including more than £500 in cash.

A 28-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and a 49-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

They were both taken into custody at Melksham Police Station and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Anthony King, from the Community Tasking Team, said: “We are continuously carrying out proactive work to tackle drug dealing.

"This warrant is just one example of our efforts to disrupt this criminal activity which has such a negative impact on our communities.

“We rely on intelligence and information from the public, so if you suspect drugs activity in your neighbourhood then please make sure you report your concerns to us.

“As this shows, we will act on this intelligence and can make a difference in making your community safer.”

Neighbourhood PC Sam Withey, from the Trowbridge Area Community Policing Team, added: "We know that people living in the town are concerned about drug dealing and the related anti-social behaviour, criminality and violence that this type of activity brings.

"I hope this reassures people that we are taking action - we will make arrests and get drugs off our streets."
