Wiltshire police are warning horse owners to be on their guard after a number of thefts of equipment from stables in the past month.

In Marlborough the police rural crime squad is investigating the theft of a horse box which was stolen from a barn on the outskirts of the town.

In Chippenham a farm gate was taken off its hinges to allow a caravan worth £5,000 to be taken from a field.

In Luckington tack worth around £2,000 was stolen from a stable yard after a padlock was sawn off a door.
