Twelve people in Wiltshire have been diagnosed with coronavirus over the weekend, according to Public Health England figures.

The official figures show that 1,372 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 4pm on Sunday, August 23, up from 1,360 at 9am on Friday, August 21.

The infection rate in the county now stands at 274.4 cases per 100,000 people – far lower than the England average of 500.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 2,329 over the period, to 325,642.

Wiltshire's cases were among the 14,241 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 139 over the period.

The figures given do not specify the location of the recorded cases.
