RUNNERS hoping to get back into competition soon have been dealt another blow, as organisers Redfish Events have cancelled the Warminster Carnival Chase 10k, 3k and 1.2K runs, due to be held on Sunday, September 6.

Organiser Tracey Hyde said: "The running world is slowly coming to life but with lots of rules and regulations. United Kingdom Athletics and Run Britain have released guidelines on staging running events.

"This includes completing a Covid-19 risk assessment, following a number of different safety measures before, during and after the race. The main one is no gathering and face to face communication. Redfish Events is all about supporting, encouraging and having fun together.

"So sadly, I feel the best decision for us all, is to cancel The Carnival Chase. Everyone who has already registered will be automatically refunded. Although completely disappointing for all of us, I hope you agree with my decision."

A questionmark still hangs over the planned Xmas 3K Fun Run from Westbury, on December 13, and Plain Crazy, from Warminster, due at the end of the year.
