BUSINESS is booming for Will’s Pizza Revolution, despite launching just before lockdown.

Tom Will had bought a horse box on Gumtree and transformed it into his own pizza business.

It took him two years to renovate the box before he could get the business up and running.

Numerous events had been booked into his calendar this year, but the future looked bleak as each one got cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But that didn’t stop Tom, of Royal Wootton Bassett, keeping his business alive.

The 19-year-old said: “My first event was Cirencester Youth Market and it was supposed to be on March 17 but that was cancelled. Then every event I was supposed to do after that was cancelled because of Covid.

“I was also supposed to be doing Pub in the Park which is organised by chef Tom Kerridge. I was going to be serving all the kids at the event but that didn’t happen, which was a shame.

“So I decided to start selling pizzas on my driveway at Doddington Road and then in May I started delivering to people’s doors.

“Then I went to Marsh Farm Hotel in Bassett to do a drive thru and that went crazy, we had 150 orders on our busiest Friday and 250 on our busiest weekend.”

His brother Harry, 16, and his friend Benjamin Barton, 19, has given Tom the helping hands he needed to manage the busy bookings.

Now with them both returning to school and university while the business is doing so well he is looking for someone to be at his side.

Will’s Pizza Revolution has had more bookings over the last few weeks, at The Mallard in Lyneham and Broadtown Brewery.

He said: “I think it’s incredible to get to work with like-minded people who focus on quality and their local area.

“I really enjoy what I do, there’s always a great atmosphere wherever I work.”

Tom and his team are making sure they’re all safe, including their customers, by socially distancing, a pager system, face masks and cleaning regularly.

“We’ve bounced back and made the most of lockdown, which gave us time to open gradually rather than going in full force, so this might have worked out better for the business,” he said.

“It was scary to start my business just as a global pandemic started. After all that work, and this has been an aspiration of mine for six years. To see everything go belly up was a nightmare but I don’t dwell on it.

“We have sold out day after day which is great and now we’re on the road taking more bookings.”
