TROWBRIDGE Oaks care home recently held a Beach Party for residents. Planned and executed by receptionists Laura Bright and Alysha Green, the courtyard was transformed into a tropical beach paradise, with sand, paddling pools and inflatables including giant flipflops, beach balls and palm trees.

Each resident was hand delivered an invitation by the receptionists in the morning. They had set up a photo-booth upon entry and then each resident was offered Pimms, Pina Colada or a non-alcoholic alternative. They played an adapted version of beach volleyball and enjoyed homecooked fish and chips, followed by a classic 99 ice cream.

Every resident spent the day with huge smiles on their faces, and enjoyed reminiscing with each other over their past summer experiences. Laura Bright said “Just to see the smiles on residents faces and hear positive comments from them makes every second of planning, organising and hosting worth it!”

Alysha Green said “Our residents deserve to have the best of times and if we can’t take them to the seaside, then we’ll bring the seaside to us. It was a wonderful mood-booster!”.
