A MAN has pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder his mother and stepfather.

James Wells, 42, of Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Friday by video link.

He denied attempting to murder his mother Linda Holford and her husband Adrian Holford.

The charges relate to an incident in Shalbourne, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, on March 30.

Wells also pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer on that date.

Judge Peter Blair QC, the Recorder of Bristol, said a trial of the case would not take place until 2021.

He told Wells: “You are remanded in custody. Your case will be next be heard at this court on November 6.”

Ray Tully appeared for the prosecution, while Nadia Chbat represented Wells during the hearing.
