THE hard work of NHS staff during the Covid crisis is being celebrated in a calendar.

The Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett Town is behind the fundraiser.

Mayor Nic Hughes and town crier Owen Collier marked the launch of the 2021 calendar.

Ceri Pridding, a member of the Rotary committee, she said: “It was great.

"We managed to thank our local sponsors on the day. I was worried we wouldn’t get any because of the impact of Covid-19.

“But when people heard it was to help the NHS, they stepped up to help and we got a lovely response from everyone.”

Funds raised from selling the calendars will be donated to NHS Charities Together – an association of 250 charitable organisations that support the health care service.

Previously it has gone to Help For Heroes and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Ceri added: “A mum of a paediatric doctor called Jess was one of the first people to purchase one. She was so excited about it which was lovely.

“We also featured New Court Surgery and Tinker Lane Surgery.

"It’s wonderful. We’re struggling with a lot of our projects as they’ve been put on hold, so getting to launch this has been fantastic.

“We also have a charity golf day on September 20 at Brinkworth Golf Club, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, which we have had a tremendous response and are currently fielding in excess of 18 teams.”

Calendars can be purchased at the Post Office, Sainsbury’s and Central Convenience Stores in Wootton Bassett.
