SHAKESPEARE Live went Live for the first time in months over a hot September weekend at Cleeve House in Seend.

The theatre group gave three outdoor performances of their socially-distanced Of Love and Laughter' production.

It comprised a full-length play with six actors performing six roles from six Shakespearean plays - an excellent example of the Rule of Six.

Graham Paton, Stephanie Mitchell, Matt Rushton, Lynne McCaffrey, Lauren Arena-McCann and Laurence Parnell excelled themselves in this lively, entertaining and colourful show, which was devised and directed by Shakespeare Live stalwart Gill Morrell.

Enthusiastic audiences of up to 100 people brought along their picnic baskets and chairs for each performance, distanced themselves safely across the lawns, relaxed and enjoyed themselves.

The play was created to fit with Covid-19 pandemic regulations during the current coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Gill Morrell said: "It is planned to perform in indoor venues as and when they open.

"In fact, the very first opportunity to watch it from the comfort of a carefully-managed indoor venue is this very weekend when Of Love and Laughter will be at The Merlin Theatre in Frome at 7pm on Saturday (September 26).
