PLANNING officers at Wiltshire Council have decided on the following applications recently.

Chippenham: Darren Whiston of 4 Berkeley Close applied for permission to build a shed in his front garden. The plans were approved with the condition that the shed is, at no time, to be used for residential purposes.

Sutton Benger: Mr H Richardson’s bid for a mixed-use development comprising of up to three office units and up to four dwellings on land at Gate Farm has been approved with conditions.

Lyneham: A planning application was filed by Mr D Land to build a second-storey side extension, as well as single-storey extensions at the side, front and rear of a house in Argosy Road. The planning officer decided to approve the plans with conditions.

Bromham: The outcome of an bid from July was approved this week. A proposal has been submitted to build a steel frame agricultural building on Mirabella, 123 New Road. Martin Hudd, who filed for permission was given the green light for the plans.

Marlborough: An application was filed to build a new two-storey extension at the rear of Downside, Tidcombe. The planning officer approved the proposals submitted by Sophie Lewis.

Marlborough: A planning bid was filed by Divya Sebastian to make changes to her garage and house in Rogers Meadow. The plans, which have now been approved, include a garage conversion, as well as a rear extension.

Marlborough: Plans have been approved for the conversion of the former St Peter's Junior School into a building which would form a 23 bedroom hotel, complete with a restaurant and bar. The bid, submitted by Shelbourne Developments Ltd also includes plans to convert and extend the outbuildings to accommodate a gym/spa and to form another dwelling, as well as the construction of seven new-build dwellings at the rear of the site, together with parking and associated works. The town council said that while this development was welcome and did not object to the application, they did highlight concerns over the 'lack of adequate parking', the safe access and exit from the site, the privacy of nearby residents and blooding issues.

Charlton: Planning permission was sought by Mr Dunn to build a garage at Bluebell Barn, Oakley Farm, Bullocks Horn, and to change the use of the land to residential. Mr Dunn's proposals have been approved.

Royal Wootton Bassett: Planning permission was sought to demolish an existing barn and the construction of a replacement dwelling at Hambrook Farm, Thornhill. On October 2 the application was refused by the planning officer. In their decision, the officer wrote that the proposal would result in ‘harm to the character and appearance of the area’ because of the size of the dwelling.

Market Lavington: An application for a porch canopy to the front elevation of a house on the High Street was submitted by Mr Binge. The planning officer approved the bid.

Sutton Veny: An application was filed to build a single-storey extension to provide a garden room at the rear of a house in Deverill Road. The planning officer approved the plans, submitted by Mr and Mrs Brown.

Trowbridge: A planning application submitted in July this year was decided last week. A proposal had been submitted by Mr A Sheeran to build a second-storey side extension and detached double garage at 7A Victoria Road. The plans were approved with conditions.

Hilperton: Planning permission was approved to build a side carport, rear two-storey and one-storey extensions at 193 Devizes Road.

Melksham: An application by Mr and Mrs Peerman was put in to build a single-storey extension at the rear of 35 Scotland Road. The planning officer approved the plans.

Melksham: Wiltshire Council have had their bid to convert four flats at Kingsbury Square approved. The local authority proposed to make the flats wheelchair-accessible with single-storey side extensions. The bid also included plans to convert two storerooms and an existing cloakroom into a wheelchair-accessible flat.

Corsham: An artist’s studio will be put up in the back garden of 36 Station Road after the applicant was granted planning approval.

Great Bedwyn: Plans submitted by Mr J Vaughan and Miss H Kane to put up a traditional open-fronted front porch at 3 Rosemary Close were approved.
